BarterTown is Back!

BarterTown is back! Last year’s weekly black market returns as a biweekly event.

You can expect:
Goods: Backyard produce, crafts, books, records, novels, and more.
Foods: Sweet treats, savory snacks, baked goods, soups and drinks.
Services: Bike repairs, hair cuts, massages, manicures and more!

Anyone is free to set up a table, bring what you are able. Come with a little something to barter or just hang out (money works too!)

Russell Sholberg – bass
Over the last 15 years Russell has had the opportunity to work within a wide spectrum of musical styles , establishing himself as a regular performer in jazz and folk festivals across Canada and the United States. Some of the long term projects he has toured and recorded with include Zeellia, Tony Wilson 6tet, Aeroplane Trio, Kevin House, Joel Kroeker, and the Cat Toren Trio. Film music credits include the NFB documentary “The Corporation” and the indie release “Machotaildrop.”

Poib Fehr – guitar
Poib Fehr is a shapeshifter that enjoys spontaneous situations and hybridized thought patterns. He utilizes guitar, percussion, found objects, voice, woodwinds, ethnic instruments and can currently be found in Gyre, yellowthief, The Alejandro Marin Band, Flags, and Ejaculation Death Rattle. In Poib’s view, all sytlistic or systemic boundaries are merely the obstacles over which one can freestyle manoeuvre with fun. Poib encourages you to think for yourself and to laugh out loud whenever possible.

Whip Of The UFO – noise/things
Whip of the UFO is Andrew Scott, great grand son of Andrew Hicks, Whip of the United Farmers of Ontario c 1919.
Sculptor, musician, and sound designer Andrew Scott has been making weird music forever, often on his own personally constructed instruments. Scott also provides audio for cartoons, and builds large scale models of insects, trilobites, and other invertebrates. When not performing musically, Andrew Scott can be seen at Vancouver’s Stanley Park, presenting public lectures on the topics of arthropods, evolution, and ecology.

Darren Williams – tenor saxophone
Saxophonist Darren Williams is an active performer devoted to musical improvisation and extended technique. Concert appearances have included collaborations with Eugene Chadbourne, Mats Gustafsson, Han Bennink, John Oswald, and many others. As a member of the Vancouver improvised music scene, Darren regularly plays in a number of ensembles such as The Sorrow And The Pity, Primord, No Parliament, and Jeff Younger’s Sandbox.
